Here’s our most condensed version of the rules. You need to know these. There are more rules and detailed explanations of the rules available, to be consulted as needed. Updated rules can be found in both Short and Long Versions.
Playing rights – A membership is for one or two adults living in the same household and any unmarried children under 23 years of age living in that same household.
Playing limits –
The limits apply any time a person plays on a reserved court, regardless of who made the reservation. There are some exceptions below. Players from your membership group (i.e. household):
- May play no more than six times in a week.
- May play no more than twice a day.
- May play no more than three times in a given week on weekdays between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Family members playing together – Two or more family members playing on the same court at the same time shall constitute one playing period for that membership group.
Walk-ons/Same Day Reservations – If there is an open court, you may sign up for it on that same day and not have it count against your six times per week.
Guests – Guests are allowed only when playing with a member. Any individual guest is permitted to play twice a month. The guest fee is $20 for each court, with the exceptions for Associate Members (four times a month @ $10), non-member children and grandchildren ($10), and Keene Racquet Club members (four times a month – no fee for the first two, then $10 for the third and fourth). Members are responsible for the fees of their guests.
Logbook – The name of every player is to be entered in the logbook before play. Guests’ names must be so indicated, along with the member responsible for the guest.
Shoes – Clean! Dry! Non-marking soles! No clay!
Water and food – Only water. Nothing else
Pets – Pets are not allowed anywhere inside the BTC.
Children – An adult must accompany children under age 14 when using club facilities, and the adult is responsible for the children while they are at the club.
Cancellations – When you cancel a reservation, it should be done at least 24 hours in advance. If a late cancellation is unavoidable, please let us know by email in order to avoid a penalty. The club president’s email is franzreichsman@gmail.com.
Penalties – There are penalties for violations of the rules. We rarely assess them, but repeat offenders may be penalized.
